FAQs

Have questions about life on the road with ingredients PLUS? Outside of pay and scheduling, here are some of the most common things drivers ask us before they join our team.

We primarily haul cane, beet, and corn-based sweeteners in both liquid and dry bulk form. That includes:

  • Liquid tankers with hydraulic pumps
  • Dry bulk pneumatic trailers with blowers
  • 53-foot dry vans for packaged sweeteners
  • All new drivers are cross-trained across trailer types and may be assigned to any delivery type.

Our fleet features 2020 and newer Kenworth day cabs and sleepers, along with a selection of Mack and Peterbilt tractors. Most are automatic transmissions, but we maintain a portion of manual transmission tractors as well.

When spec’ing new trucks, we prioritize driver comfort, upgraded seats, larger sleepers, and ergonomic cabs. While we manage costs, we never cut corners on quality or reliability.

Safety is our top priority. We operate our own maintenance shop with a dedicated team of in-house mechanics. All tractors and trailers undergo regular inspections, covering DOT compliance and key safety checks during scheduled preventive maintenance.

Yes, our Dispatch and Logistics teams are available 24/7 to assist drivers with routing, breakdowns, or unexpected issues. You’re never alone out there.

We provide a 3-week paid training program, led by a Smith System-certified CDL-A trainer.
Training includes:

  • Safe driving techniques
  • IngredientPlus operating procedures
  • Compliance and customer service expectations
  • Drivers are paid hourly plus overtime during training. Upon completion, they must pass a final road test to be cleared for independent driving and start earning mileage + performance pay

Currently, our trucks are not equipped with road-facing or driver-facing cameras. However, we are exploring the future use of road-facing cameras as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety.
